I’ve been drawn to textiles for as long as I can remember. I think there is something magical about the transformation of raw materials from threads and yards into two and three dimensions.
My work often begins by playing with ideas, with materials l, with colour or something else. I like to spin and dye my own threads or to print fabrics and knit or crochet. I love the interactions of light and the connections and conversations, my work initiates something such as birds, mythological or mediaeval symbolism reoccur.
I joined TAGS in 2012 and started working on large paper sculpture in recycled. My work is evolving but thing I’m currently obsessed with is freeform crochet and stranded colour knitting.
Most recent post MA project was a two week residency in Spain working with children to make pavement drawings and sculptures of birds from recycled drinks cans
