Liz Chester is a tapestry weaver. She originally trained as an engineer and worked in the IT industry for over 20 years. When an opportunity came to take redundancy in 2008 she made a career change and became a full-time artist in tapestry.
Liz learned to weave as a teenager and has woven almost continuously since then, on an amateur basis. She is now a member of the Suffolk Craft Society, as well as TAGS. She has exhibited locally, nationally and, occasionally, internationally. Tapestry is her medium of choice. Whilst it does require a significant investment in time and effort to become proficient, its very constraints allow the artist to invest their passion into something durable and beautiful. The act of creating a tapestry is quite hypnotic and Liz hopes to communicate her appreciation of this very old art form to others.
